Lawyers

Which professions primarily involve an optimistic attitude, and/or idealism, aside from, say, some roles in the UN?

I was thinking that lawyers can and must be "pessimists", in a "poor mood" because they have to be able to anticipate everything that could go wrong in a contract when advising you.
The one that catastrophises the best and anticipates every single snare and disaster is the best lawyer

PR people have to pretend that all is absolutely wonderful while anticipating that nothing is.

What does this say about the leaders or campaigners of a cause though?

The best ones would be the ones who would know or consider all worst possible outcomes, consequence should they so fail. Yet at the same time, go forward, present information, utilise time, talent and funds, all with the possibility of the best possible outcome on their tip of their tongue.

The previous leaders of the past, of cults and nations, who promised genuinely at the time of their belief to bring to fruition ideals, values, civil rights.

The best ones are the ones who know they can fail, fail despite all their trying, yet still forge forward constructively, as best as they can adapt to and see fit.

I'm so cynical about politicians. So often, the system finally spits out as leader simply one of those persons who was prepared to do everything required in order to become the leader - and increasingly, this seems to guarantee a degree of carelessness and indifference toward the public good. We've so few role model statesmen.
